Specialization and career to date
Yaiza Araque is a lawyer specializing in international commercial arbitration, trade law and mediation. For four years, she has been counsel at the Madrid Court of Arbitration where she administered -in English and Spanish- a great deal of international and domestic commercial arbitration proceedings. As a member of the Court, she was also in charge of the examination of awards before they were issued. She currently collaborates with several leading institutions in the administration of mediation proceedings in Spain.
Yaiza is used to managing complex arbitration files and to issuing procedural decisions - among others - in corporate, distribution, construction, technology and banking spheres.
Admissions and education
Yaiza holds a Law degree and a Master degree for Access to the Legal Profession from Complutense University of Madrid. She also holds a Master degree in International Trade Law from the International University of La Rioja. She currently combines the legal profession with the completion of a doctoral thesis at Complutense University of Madrid.
Yaiza is licensed to practice Law in Spain and is admitted to the Madrid Bar.
Language skills and other relevant information
Yaiza has published several articles on International Commercial Arbitration and is a member of the Charter Institute of Arbitrators and of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA-40). She is fluent in Spanish, English and French and understands German and Italian.
Yaiza highly promotes the use of arbitration as an effective mean of dispute resolution. In this regard, she is a coordinator at International Arbitration Seminars & Courses (IASC) and she acts as an arbitrator at the international competition MOOTMadrid, where she is also a coach of a university team.
